Waterloo – 30 Bands for 30 Days

On October 3rd, music fans will get a rare opportunity to see rising Texas artist Wade Bowen up close and personal when he delivers a special full band acoustic show at the Waterloo Ice House kicking off their 30th Anniversary year 30 Bands in 30 Days Celebration. The month long October event will benefit the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, also known as HAAM. ME TV will be taping footage at the show. With a successful album release earlier this year (Lost Hotel), a video on CMT, and having penned a hit song for Pat Green (“Don’t Break My Heart Again”), Bowen has anchored himself as one the “must watch” rising stars coming out of Texas. Bowen recently achieved his own number one song on the Texas Music Chart and on XM’s Satellite radio’s “X Country” with “God Bless This Town.”

“When we were putting together the line up for our big 30 Bands in 30 days celebration, I knew that I wanted to have a kick-off show that would highlight a great talent while at the same time affording fans the opportunity to enjoy an intimate concert on our new stage. Wade fit the bill perfectly,” says Angela-Marie Lampton, talent buyer for Waterloo Ice House and owner of SunFire Entertainment. Wade and his entire band will be doing something that wouldn’t normally do; unplug so to speak.

“Full band acoustic shows are a blast for us. It is a completely different show than everyone is used to…including us! That is why we are looking forward to this show,” says Bowen.

While the concert is a great chance to see Bowen at work, it also supports a great cause. The Waterloo Ice House has teamed up with the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians in order to dedicate proceeds from their entire month long celebration to the organization which helps provide access to affordable health care for Austin’s uninsured musicians.

“There is a point in every musician’s career when they need someone to lend a hand. HAMM creates opportunities for musicians to get what they deserve and I’m always willing to help out if I can!” says Bowen.

Since it’s beginning, music has been a part of the fabric of the Waterloo Ice House. Artists like Toni Price, Uncle Walt’s Band, Lyle Lovett, and Robert Earl Keen have performed at a Waterloo Ice House location at some point in their career.

“When we got involved with the HAAM Benefit Day for October 3rd, we decided that we could do even more by dedicating our entire month to raising funds to help the organization provide health insurance to Austin musicians,” said Scott Hentschel, owner of Waterloo Ice House.

Other artists set to appear throughout the month long celebration includes Toni Price, The Asylum Street Spankers, Moonlight Towers, Carolyn Wonderland, Jesse Dayton, Triggerfish, Eric Tessmer, The Hudsons, Ryan Turner, Ryan James, Josh Grider, Paul Eason and POP STARS: Michael Fracasso, Nathan Hamilton, Matt the Electrician, Beaver Nelson, and many, many more. ME TV has signed on to support the month long event and will be taping several of the shows.

The 30 highlighted Anniversary shows will be at all Waterloo Ice House locations, with main shows being featured on the new stage at the Waterloo Ice House 600 N. Lamar location. A master calendar line up of the concerts will be available for Austinites to pick up at any Waterloo Ice House location starting September 25, 2006.

Waterloo Ice House will be donating 20% of its sales during each of the featured shows and half of all door profits to HAAM. Waterloo Ice House also will be launching a special HAAM Burger menu featuring celebrity Hamburgers. Cory Morrow, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ray Benson, John Dee Graham, Bruce Robison, Kelly Wills, and Bob Schneider are among the artists slated to have their very own HAAM Burger. Each Burger will be made according to the artist’s preferences. Five dollars from each HAAM Burger will be donated to HAAM.
