About Galleywinter

Galleywinter was established in 1999 under its original name, ToreUpFromtheFloorUp.com. Founded by Jon Paul “Hogleg” Long with early support from Ryan “Tank” Hargrave, what began as a grassroots outlet for the music we loved quickly grew into something more...a trusted voice rooted in songs, stories, and community.

In 2003, Brad Beheler joined the project and has served as chief editor and steward of Galleywinter ever since, guiding its evolution while staying true to its original spirit. Over the years, the site has expanded in both scope and reach, covering Texas Music, Red Dirt, Americana, and roots music with an emphasis on authenticity over trends.

Cody Starr joined the Galleywinter family in 2016, bringing additional perspective and voice to the platform. Bobby Duncan anchors the Galleywinter podcast, carrying conversations with artists and storytellers beyond the written word and into long form discussions.

More than two decades in, Galleywinter remains independent, community driven, and focused on what matters most: the music, the people who make it, and the fans who keep it alive.

We focus on writing about the music we love and the culture that surrounds it. We host our Listening Room series and River Jam festival, and you can find us at concerts, events, and gatherings across the Texas Music, Red Dirt, and Americana landscape. We’ve been supporting the music we love since 1999, and we aren’t stopping anytime soon.
