LJT 26 Lineup Released

You can find the entire line-up HERE at 10AM central, and it is already posted on the LJT app for iPhones.  Here are a few highlights we are looking forward to.  As always, this is a formidable and very comprehensive lineup that has something for every taste and fan.  There are country acts, rock acts, folk acts, legendary acts and new acts.  Sometimes back to back.  The list below is far from comprehensive, it just includes many of the sets we won’t be missing and felt were particularly notable.

TUE APRIL 22

8:00PM – Bud Light Stage – Bart Crow returns to the mainstage of the festival he started attending as a Tarleton State student in the late 90’s.  He was off the bill for a couple years before returning and he never sounds better than out at LJT.

WED APRIL 23

3:30PM- Allsup’s Stage -The reverend Walt Wilkins takes to the Allsup’s Stage with his Mystiqueros backing him.  It is sure to be a soulful, mystical and magical trip through Walt’s catalog of songwriting gems.

4:30PM-Allsup’s Stage –  In the words of Robert Earl Keen, “the great Joe Ely” takes the stage next. Ely is known for his intense live shows that have inspired everyone from Bruce Springsteen to The Clash.  This should be no different.

6:00PM -Bud Light Stage – One of our favorite bands, Uncle Lucius, makes their LJT debut.  Nobody brings it quite like our favorite uncle.  A country jam band to be reckoned with should fit right at home at LJT, this could be in the running for set of the week.

7:30PM – Bud Light Stage – One of the most traditionally country, as well as, one of the most high-energy acts on the bill is Cody Johnson.  The past year has seen Johnson raise from underdog to top dog.  This set could be a crowning moment.

THURS APRIL 24

3:00PM – Allsup’s Stage – Max Stalling is the type of singer/songwriter who can captivate listening room audiences and rowdy barrooms with equal aplomb.  His comforting voice and sharp wit make an interesting combination that ends up entirely danceable and fun at LJT each year.

6:30PM – Bud Light Stage – He doesn’t tour much anymore, and certainly not very often can you find him in a full-band situation, so the fact that Sean McConnell is on this bill and playing full band on the mainstage is something to behold.  Do not miss this set.  It is a rare glimpse at a soulful artist that can nimbly groove when he wants to do so. This should be spectacular.

10:00PM – Bud Light Stage – It’s been 10 years since the Randy Rogers Band made their debut at LJT with a 3PM afternoon performance in front of about 50 people.  By 2006, they were closing out the mainstage on Thursday nights.  That has remained their home at LJT and the home to one of the best sets they play each year.

FRI APRIL 25

4:00PM – Allsup’s Stage – Once overheard The Damn Quails described as a group of Oklahoma hillbillies who could pluck the heck out of stringed instruments and then probably run a successful trot line with guitar strings right after their show.  In other words, it’s a rootsy, folksy, jam kind of a thing.  A crowded stage of influences, songs and good times.

7:00PM – Bud Light Stage – A year ago at LJT, William Clark Green‘s Rose Queen album had just hit the streets.  In the months that have followed, WCG has deservedly risen in stature around the scene.  He’s a gifted songwriter who knows how to put on a good show.  He’s got material flowing for his next record and expect to hear a few new tunes mixed in with your favorites.

8:15PM – Bud Light Stage – Southern rock is alive and well with Whiskey Myers at the helm.  As good as their records can be, they’re even better live.  This should be an amazing set of loud guitars and heartworn lyrics.

SAT APRIL 26

1:ooPM – Allsup’s Stage – Steve Fromholz was known as the poet laureate of Texas.  His untimely death in January shook the Texas Music community.  During this set at LJT, some of his friends and admirers will pay tribute to him by playing some of his best songs.

3:00PM – Allsup’s Stage – The sage prophet of Texas songwriters, Ray Wylie Hubbard closes out the Allsup’s stage with what is sure to be another foot-stomping, groove heavy, humor-filled good time.

4:00PM – Bud Light Stage – After playing in the tiny T-Bird’s Garage last year, 1100 Springs makes the big jump to the mainstage.  These veteran rocking honky-tonkers from Dallas are sure to  have the masses bouncing in the fields in front of them.

7:00PM – Bud Light Stage – For the first time I can recall, Reckless Kelly is playing LJT on a Saturday night.  They are among the acts that will be helping bring the festival to a close and they are sure to put a bow on things as only they are capable of.

 11:00PM – T-Bird’s Garage – The reformed and rejuvenated Cooder Graw play the last set of the festival in the tiny T-Bird’s Garage.  Get here early if you want to cap your LJT experience with a rowdy good time.
