Hello again my friends, it’s the newest edition of Face the Music – the weekly article that highlights a few shows from the past week, provides you with a heads up for CD releases, updates you with life events for band members and the Galleywinter family, and gives you a glimpse of upcoming events in the Texas/Red Dirt Music scene. Check back each week to keep up with the dirt in and around the scene!
Shows in Review: Micky & The Motorcars played an acoustic show this past Sunday as part of the Clubhouse Concert Series at the White Elephant Saloon. You can see pictures and read reviews of yet another special Sunday night at White Elephant.
This Monday’s Pat Green, Dierks Bently & Cross Canadian Ragweed show was broadcast live on XM Satellite Radio from the Nokia Theater in Times Square. Those who couldn’t be in New York for the show gathered here on Galleywinter for their very own listening party.
Pat Green Upcoming Events: ATTENTION SAN ANTONIO: Brandon Rhyder will be playing a free show at Barfly’s TONIGHT (Wednesday, November 16th) as part of the County Line music series after party.
Mike Eli returns to Huntsville TONIGHT for an acoustic show at the Jolly Fox. If you can’t make it to Huntsville tonight, you can see the full band on Friday in College Station and on Saturday at Gruene Hall. The Eli Young Band teams up with Roger Creager for Saturday’s show at Gruene.
Jack Ingram and The Eli Young Band will be at Hurricane Harry’s in College Station on Friday night. The two bands will meeting up again next Wednesday night in Odessa, TX!
The Bleu Edmondson Band hits the road this weekend to promote their new live CD “One Voice”. The band is heading to Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas before coming home to Texas. The CD will be released on November 22nd but you can pre-order yours today from lonestarmusic.com.
Also playing outside of the great state of Texas this week: Cross Canadian Ragweed and Dierks Bentley continue their High Times & Hangovers tour in Selinsgrove, PA on Thursday night. Then they’ll head south for the weekend stopping in in Columbia, SC and Morgantown, WV before meeting up with Pat Green for one more show at Clemson University on Sunday night.
Cory Morrow is also taking Texas music to the masses this week. He’ll be playing this Friday, November 18 at the Exit In in Nashville, TN.
Wade Bowen & West 84 will be at Wild West in Lubbock on Friday night.
Micky & The Motorcars have two shows scheduled this weekend! They will be at Dan’s in Denton on Thursday night. And at Coupland Dancehall on Saturday night with Reckless Kelly!
The Houston area is in for a treat this weekend: Brandon Jenkins will be performing at the Sidecar Pub on Friday night. While Stoney Larue returns to the Firehouse Saloon on Saturday, November 19th.
The Clubhouse Concert Series at the White Elephant Saloon continues this week with acoustic performances by Walt Wilkins, John Greenberg, Mike Blakely & Ryan James. If you’re in the Fort Worth area on Sunday night, head over to the Stockyards to see Miss Joni and the Clubhouse Girls.
Looking for a way to kick off the long Thanksgiving weekend? The Kyle Hunt Band, Deryl Dodd, Randy Allen & Mike Mancy will be starting the festivies on Wednesday night (11/23) at Red Beard’s Ice House in Ennis.
If you’re in the Houston area and looking for a pre-Turkey Day celebration, The Randy Rogers Band will be at the Midnight Rodeo in Katy on Wednesday night.
After a well deserved hiatus, Jason Boland and the Stragglers return to the stage next Wednesday night (11/23) for a performance at the Executive Surf Club in Corpus Christi. Head down to Corpus and show the band some love!

This week’s Galleywinter Featured Artist is Bonnie Bishop. Bonnie’s new album Soft to the Touch hit shelves last week. You can hear a collection of songs from her new album in the music player on the main page. The Bleu Edmondson Band’s much anticipated live album One Voice ships next Tuesday, November 22nd! You can pre-order your copy from lonestarmusic.com or order directly from Bleu’s website: BleuEdmondson.com The Dirt: Galleywinter would like to Congratulate Dierks Bentley on his recent achievement at the 2005 CMA Awards. Dierks took home the 2005 Horizon Award. This was Dierks’ second nomination and first award from the Country Music Association.
You may have noticed some changes on the site this week. Galleywinter has added two new artist forums. We would like to extend a warm welcome to Bonnie Bishop and Ryan Turner!
Something in the water… Congratulations to Galleywinter members Keri D and LarryLee. They are expecting their first child in June of 2006! Just for fun: Just a few links to point you in the direction of additional resources or cool threads – on Galleywinter and beyond… While it’s great that places like Best Buy and Circuit City are carrying Texas Music albums, be sure to remember to support the local Indie stores that supported independent music before Texas music became what it is. Check out Stores like Waterloo Records in Austin or Cactus Music in Houston. Be sure to visit these stores in person!
