River Jam Artist Preview: Zac Wilkerson

There’s a soulful, groove based sound bounding down from the panhandle courtesy of Zac Wilkerson and The Wayward Souls.  ZW and crew jumped onto radars a couple year’s back by winning an LJT contest and getting on the coveted bill of that festival.  They have followed that up with a steady grind of gigs and some fantastic studio efforts.  Wilkerson’s music evokes influences as seemingly disparate as Walt Wilkins and Bill Withers…or Tom Petty and Otis Redding. This is music that will make you dance, sway, sing, and stomp backed by lyrics that make you think.  It’s a win-win.
