Introducing The Galleywinter Ten

For years now, we’ve been asked some version of the same question, “What songs are really hot right now?”

Not what’s trending on TikTok. Not what a label is pushing. Not what some promoter convinced the station in Post to report that it's playing 10,000 times. Not what’s climbing a national chart that has very little to do with this scene.

Just… what’s actually getting played, talked about, and lived with.

That’s where The Galleywinter Ten comes in.

Each month, we’ll publish a simple Top 10 snapshot of songs currently making noise across the Texas / Red Dirt / Americana landscape. The list is informed by regular airplay and rotation from a handful of stations that have long been plugged into this world, including 95.9 The Ranch (Fort Worth), 92.1 KNBT (New Braunfels), 107.7 The Rebel (Lubbock), 95.7 KFUR (Amarillo) along with a touch of what we're jamming to provide some Galleywinter editorial perspective.

This isn’t meant to be a definitive authority or a forever ranking. It’s a moment in time type look at what’s resonating right now. Some songs will rise fast and some will hang around longer than expected. Others will quietly slip out and make room for the next wave. That’s the point.

The Galleywinter Ten is less about chasing numbers and more about reflecting the pulse of the scene as it exists each month. Fluid across different towns, different audiences, and different corners of the same musical family.

We’ll explain it this first time. After that, we’ll just post the list. It will usually be posted at the end of the month.
