Hello again my friends, it’s the newest edition of Face the Music – the weekly article that highlights a few shows from the past week, provides you with a heads up for CD releases, updates you with life events for band members and the Galleywinter family, and gives you a glimpse of upcoming events in the Texas/Red Dirt Music scene. Check back each week to keep up with the dirt in and around the scene!
Shows in Review: In late October The Brandon Jenkins Band’s trailer was broken into in Austin and much of the band’s gear was stolen. Miss Joni and the Clubhouse Girls worked diligently to put together a benefit show in order to raise money to help Brandon and the band recover some of what was lost. The benefit concert was held this past Sunday at the White Horse Saloon in Fort Worth and the turnout from musicians in the Texas Music Scene was astounding. Roger Ray (Jason Boland & the Stragglers) served as the emcee and, adding to an already stellar lineup, many musicians showed up at the White Horse Saloon unannounced to support to support their friend. The show was a huge success and at the end of the night Brandon was presented with a check for over $6,000. Jason Boland and the Stragglers made their return to the stage last week after a well deserved hiatus. The band is back in full force! You can read all about their post-Thanksgiving performances at Billy Bob’s and Floore’s Country Store in the JB&S forum. Catch Jason and the band in Witchita Falls, Odessa or Stephenville this week before they head north to Arkansas & Kansas. Upcoming Events: Attn College Station: Brandon Rhyder and Walt Wilkins will be in your town TONIGHT Wednesday, November 30th at the Bourbon St. Bar & Grill! Walt will also be playing a FREE show tomorrow, Thursday night, at Gruene Hall.
Honeybrowne is celebrating the release of their new CD Something to Believe In this Thursday at Saengerhalle in New Braunfels, TX.
Also getting an early start on the weekend, Ryan Turner & Macon Greyson team up for a show at the Executive Surf Club in Corpus this Thursday, December 1st.
Hayes Carll is playing two shows at MacHenry’s in Fort Worth this week. On Thursday Hayes will take the stage with his guitar and he returns to MacHenry’s on Friday backed by a full band. On Saturday night Hayes heads to New Braunfels with James McMurtry for a show at Saengerhalle.
Micky & the Motorcars kick off December with a show at Love & War in Plano on Thursday. From there, they’ll be on their way to Helotes before the Big 12 Party in Houston on Saturday!
Also at the Big 12 Party this year is the Randy Rogers Band. They will be headlining Friday night’s show in Houston following the UT pep rally! On Saturday night the RRB returns to Coupland Dancehall with Brandon Rhyder.
Gilley’s Dallas welcomes Wade Bowen & West 84 this Friday night followed by Aaron Watson on Saturday night. Tickets to these events are still available! For more information visit Gilleysdallas.com

Everyone has a chance to hear the Eli Young Band this week! In addition to their shows in Austin on Friday night with Roger Creager and College Station on Saturday night, the band will be appearing with Honeybrowne on the Front Porch with Justin Frazell on Sunday night. The 6th annual Center for Texas Music History benefit is being held at Saengerhalle on Sunday. Featured artists include Hayes Carll, Micky & the Motorcars and the Randy Rogers Band. Doors open at 4:00 PM, tickets are $10.00 in advance or $15.00 at the door. All proceeds benefit the Center for Texas Music History.
Galleywinter featured artist Bleu Edmondson’s new CD One Voice is the top selling album on lonestarmusic.com! You can see the Bleu Edmondson Band at the Firehouse Saloon in Houston this Saturday night!
Reckless Kelly heads West! The band is stopping in four California cities this week including West Hollywood for a performance at the infamous Viper Room. Don’t worry, they’ll be back in Texas for a show in Austin on the 9th.
Pat Green also heads west this week – to Sin City – for two shows at the Silverton Casino in Las Vegas!
The Clubhouse Concert Series at the White Elephant Saloon continues this week with performances by Sam Baker and Tommy Alverson. If you’re in the Fort Worth area on Sunday night, head over to the Stockyards to see Miss Joni and the Clubhouse Girls. The Dirt: Dierks Bentley has two videos nominated for GAC’s Top 50 videos of 2005. Vote for Dierks at GAC.com and you could win an mp3 player with a one year subscription to Napster! In other Dierk’s Bentley news, not only was his video for Come A Little Closer was chosen by CMT as the sexiest video of 2005, it’s also currently #1 on CMT’s Top Twenty Countdown. There is a new radio station in town, and they play all Texas music, all the time! If only we could all be so lucky!
