SXSW at Waterloo Ice house

It’s SXSW time and that means that Austin will be – in a big way – living up to its name as the Live Music Capital of the World. The only problem is that wristbands are sold out. Actually, that’s not a problem if you are a Texas Music fan because the Waterloo Ice House at 600 N. Lamar (next to Waterloo Records) is celebrating SXSW with a week packed full of Non-Official Showcases and the best part is no wrist band is needed. Over the course of 5 days, Waterloo Ice House will be hosting over 30 bands and all for FREE! Star-Studded showcases will be presented by Waterloo Ice House, AUE, Best In Texas, and AmericanaRoots.com – all showcasing some of Texas’ best talent and a few rising stars on the national Americana scene.

The week kicks off with local pop rock group Six Easy Pieces on Tuesday, March 14.

Wednesday, March 15, the Ice House presents a Texas Singer/Songwriter showcase featuring the Dust Devils, Blake and Fallon, Lisa Novak, Texas Renegade, Drew Kennedy, Ryan James, and Ryan Turner. Ryan James’ single “Goodbye Carolina” and Ryan Turner’s single “Julie’s Gonna Dance” are both currently rising on the Texas Music Chart. The Dust Devils (formerly the Cosmic Dust Devils) recently received 5 nominations for the 2006 Texas Music Awards.

Thursday, March 16th, Austin Universal Entertainment (AUE), one of the largest entertainment agencies in the Southwest, will be showcasing artists on their roster along with special guests. AUE is proud present acoustic performances by Eric Neznik, Pete Benz, Jackson Taylor, Jarrod Birmingham, Bleu Edmondson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Gary P. Nunn, Cory Morrow, Wade Bowen and more .

Friday, March 17th, Best In Texas Music Magazine will be hosting a Texas star studded line up of artists including Tody Castillo, Ryan James Band, Sara Hamilton, Jesse Dayton, John Evans Band, Rick Trevino, Collin Herring, and Mighty Orq and more. Best In Texas Magazine recently celebrated its 5th year in publication with a circulation of over 30,000 per month. The music magazine is home to the widely respected Texas Music Chart.

AmericanaRoots.com ends the week with a bang Saturday, March 18, 2006 with their showcase featuring Ralston Bowles, Tom Gillam, The Doc Marshalls, Sidehill Gougers, Jon Christopher Davis, Morrison-Williams, and Grayson Capps. With a mantra of “fertilizing Americana Music” the year-old website has sprouted a top downloaded podcast on iTunes, a successful internet radio show, and review website.
