{Revealed} Wade Bowen

We recently started a new feature at Galleywinter that enabled the forum community to develop questions for their favorite artists. The first guy to sign up for the challenge was Wade Bowen. Make sure you return the favor and go pick up his excellent Live at Billy Bob’s cd/dvd. Here are the results of your questions for him. Revealed: Wade Bowen 1. What artists out there in the Texas/Red Dirt scene are you aching for the rest of the world to hear?

I love Adam Hood, Seth James, and Sean McConnell. I really believe there is no way if you listen to those guys you won’t just absolutely love it!

2. Who is your musical role model?

I pretty much follow the pattern of what would Springsteen do. Just love the music and love the way he seems to run his business

3. Since you have become more national with your touring, has there been a stage you stood on and said “Holy shit! I can’t believe I’m here!”?

When I stood in the circle at the Grand Ole Opry, I literally said that to myself (laughs). I could not believe I was playing that stage. Still can’t believe it!

4. How has your growing family influenced your musical style? How has it influenced your work schedule? How has it influenced your being a musician?

I think they have influenced everything. I write much different now because I look at the world in a different way. I no longer have just myself to look out for but a growing family. So I spend most of my days fighting to get back home to them and fighting the ordinary everyday schedule of being a dad. It has made me grow up quite a bit.

5. Tell us about your most embarrassing moment on stage or off.

Too many to count. I’ll have to get back to you, I promise I’m not copping out! (laughs)

6. Where is your favorite place to write songs?

I’ve really started enjoying my monthly trips to Nashville because it gives me some time alone to think about things and get some good thoughts on paper. I’m rarely alone anymore between the bus and my family so I do enjoy writing there.

7. Rapid fire:

Bon Scott or Brian Johnson? Bon Scott

David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar? David Lee Roth

Favorite festival? Larry Joe Taylor Festival

Ford or Chevy? Chevy

8. Name a song that changed your life and how it did so.

Patty Griffin-“Nobody’s Cryin'”. I really had become unsure of music. I was in between my roots of mainstream country growing up as a kid and finally discovering true songwriters and artists that played music for the right reasons. That song hit me like a ton of bricks and have been obsessed with her ever since.

9. I’m a huge Bruce Springsteen fan, and know you are as well. What Springsteen song is your favorite, or made you a fan? and why? And, if you’ve seen him live what was your favorite part of his live show?

It’s not my favorite anymore but “Atlantic City” is what hooked me on him and then I discovered everything else he had. And as far as his live show, it’s all just that good. I’ve never seen anyone put that kind of passion and energy into every second they have on that stage. He plays every show as if it’s his last. I know first hand how tough that can be at times…so it makes me admire him even more.

10. Is golf your favorite hobby away from music? What is your golf handicap?

Golf is what I do as a hobby when I have the chance. I don’t get to play much anymore like i used to so i wouldn’t even know what my handicap is right now. I think I was better when I was 14 then I am now (laughs).
