No Justice

No Justice is the latest Red Dirt export to make an impact in Texas. They are rapidly becoming a fan and Galleywinter favorite. The rise of this great band shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon as their original sounds continue to carry them towards greater success. Get to know more about No Justice in this edition of 20 Questions.

1. What’s new and exciting with No Justice? We recently got a Budweiser True Music Live deal, just released our second single from our record, “Far From Everything”, called “The Toast”, and are currently recording our second CD.

2. The scene is flooded with acts. What do you feel separates No Justice from all the other bands? No Justice doesn’t fit into any category. We have a truly unique sound that is not like anything else you’re hearing right now.

3. Name association -Cory Morrow- Heard he has a Porsche! -Wade Bowen- Really dig his music. -Charlie Robison- Great songwriter. -Pat Green- “Songs About Texas”. -Brandon Jenkins-Tattoos. Awesome songwriter and good friend. -Mike McClure- Same as above without the tattoos. Very unique. -Cody Canada- Longer hair than me. Bigger bus than me. (Laughs) He helped No Justice and me personally get started in the music scene. -Jason Boland- Great friend. Same as above but with shorter hair and a cowboy hat.

4. What’s your favorite Stoney LaRue story? All of ‘em. The ones where he doesn’t tell any of the stuff that I did!

5. Y’all tour quite extensively. Which state has worse drivers: Oklahoma or Texas? I’m not really sure, I’m usually asleep when we’re on the road. Or playing video games.

7. Y’all have played shows with the Warren Brothers. Were they filming their CMT reality show when y’all met them? And if so, which one of you will need to have body parts pixilated when the show airs? Thankfully, is no video evidence of that night. They are great guys.

8. Coming from the whole Red River scene, it must be impossible to avoid the influence of guys like Cody Canada, Mike McClure, and Bob Childers. Talk about coming from that environment and some of your influences that may surprise fans. I think that everything that comes out of this are surprises fans in some way or another. It was a cool thing when I started out to go over to the yellow house after the bars closed and sit and play/listen in the same circle as Bob Childers, Red Dirt Rangers, McClure, Boland, Stoney, Cody, etc.. A lot of things were discovered some of those nights.

9. Everyone in the band is married except for Brandon. Do y’all help him pick up chicks on the road or just make fun of him? There’s nothing to be made fun of by picking up chicks. We just watch and give our “professional” opinions.

10. Stories behind the following songs: -House of Pain- Self Explanatory -Feels Like Rain- guy comes home from the road to find out that his woman got fed up and left him along with taking all of his stuff. -24 Days- wrote it when I had just joined the band and we had 24 days to learn a full nights show. -3 Verses- song about the path in life that I chose and the dealing with it all. -Self Expression- Stress relief. (laughs) -Far From Everything- dealing with hard times and not knowing your place in life.

11. What are your long-range goals for No Justice? To have a van sittin on some fat 36 in. spinners! No, really man, I just think the usual. Success, a record deal, etc.

12. Favorite touring memory of the following towns/clubs: -Austin- GWE Awards at Midnight Rodeo -New Braunfels- “The River” -Stephenville- Playing with The Great Divide -Dallas- Crawfish Fest. 04 and playing at Gilleys. -Houston- Playing with our friends from Cooder Graw at the Firehouse. -Lubbock- Trashcan BBQ! -Oklahoma City- Hangover Ball at the Wormy Dog. -Blaine’s Pub- Blaines Picnic 04’ and all the after parties! -Wormy Dog- Where I got my start. -Dos Amigos- Don’t remember much. (laughs) Definitely the fans.

13. Your band is a big fan of video games. Who’s the best player in the band? What’s the favorite game for No Justice? Me! Whatevers new or in the console.

14. If someone held a gun to your head and made you listen to one of the following songs for 6 hours, which song do you pick and why? You must pick a song, you can’t just say you’d let them shoot you! -Alan Jackson “www.memory” -Ray Stevens “Everything is Beautiful” -Big & Rich “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy”

Damn you! (laughs) Uhh, I guess Alan Jackson. At least he’s smart enough to work a computer.

15. What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen a fan do at one of your shows? Come out in nothing but a pair of No Justice undies and a cowboy hat.

16. Best gig you’ve ever had. Worst gig you’ve ever had. What’s the difference between a really good gig and a really bad one? Those are both too hard to pick and I “had” to answer a few back (#14), (laughs), so I’m going to plead the “fifth”! The difference between a good and bad show is just the way we play individually on a given night b/c the fans are always good and there to listen.

17. I share a birthday (July 14) with Jerry. How ‘bout we throw a big ass party somewhere? Hooters or Chucky’s? You name the place.

18. Rapid Fire: -Will Ferrell in Anchorman or Will Ferrell in Old School? Old School! -American Idol judges or Nashville Star judges? Nashville Star! -Favorite restaurant you’ve discovered while going up and down the highways. Alligator Grill in Austin. -Toilet paper up or down? Both. You gotta get that sucker clean! -Playstation 2 or Xbox? Both! Too many good games on each one.

19. Usually this is where I’d ask you what your favorite George Strait song is but since you’re from Oklahoma I’ll ask you what your favorite Garth Brooks song is. The ones he didn’t record.

20. Compare/contrast the music you and your peers produce with that coming from the mainstream. Ours is less industrialized and less forced upon the market.
