I enjoy music from pretty much every genre. Texas music is so special because the artists seem to really write songs that mean something to them instead of just manufacturing what will "sell". And the songs they write seem to really speak to and touch me. The artists I've met always seem grateful to the fans and very down to earth!
What Are You Listening To?
My two newest cd's I'm digging are Tom Russell's "Love and Fear" and Josh Owen's "Runnin' From the Daylight". I'm also always listening to various Jack Ingram, Todd Snider, Hayes Carll, Stoney LaRue, Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Deadman, Jon Dee Graham, Radney Foster and Pat Green cd's. Some fairly new guys on the scene I would recommend are Harley Dean and the Dedringers. |

This music speaks to me for several reasons...first it was Pat singing about places I knew-like El Arroyo-my all-time favorite Mexican food joint...then the music became my refuge during the really tough times and it felt like every lyric written by guys like Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, and Brandon Rhyder were coming from inside my head and heart...now for this Carolina girl this music is my link back to Texas and I jump at ANY chance I get to catch a live show here on the East Coast because hearing that first note brings my 2 worlds together.
