Today in Music
One day like today... 2001 The new Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum opened it's doors in downtown Nashville.
1999 No Doubt sues Carlsbad, Calif.-based clothing manufacturer No Fear, claiming that clothing items bearing the "No Doubt" name infringe on the group's copyrighted service mark, which the band uses on its own merchandise.
1980 Drummer Peter Criss leaves Kiss for the first time.
1974 Ray Stevens hits #1 across the board with his goofy take on the 70's phenomenon streaking. Appropriately enough, the song was called "The Streak"

Hi guys, long time Ragweed fan and reader of this site just never felt a need to post anything myself. Over the years I've enjoyed reading concert reviews and hearing details from concerts you've guys have attended so I thought I'd finally return the favor. The concert was at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC which is a great venue to see a concert. Ragweed of course put on a great show like they always do. First time I've ever seen Cody wear a tie and Jeremy wearing a cowboy hat. They played a few new songs (which weren't on the wristband ) during the acoustic set. Both songs were amazing, one was co-written with Stephanie Briggs, but can't remember the names. Anyways, they said that the new album is tentatively going to be called Beard. The story Cody told behind the name was they were on tour and had all grown beards at the time and they ran into Phil Pritchett and he asked them if they were going into the studio soon. They responded by saying no and asked Phil why and he said well, you all have beards and you've been around for about 15 years now, isn't it about time to make your "beard" record? The Beetles did it, Led Zepplin did it, even the f'n Monkeys made a beard record. Anyways, here's the setlist from the night. enjoy:
1. Don't Need You
2. Rock n' Roll
3. Deal
4. Cold Hearted Woman
5. Deal
6. Hammer Down
7. Record Exec.
8. Soul Agent
9. Anywhere But Here
10. Oklahoma
11. Drum Solo
12. #
13. Blue Bonnets
14-15. New songs I believe one said something like "Once upon a time I thought I New Everything?" and other co-written by Stephanie Briggs.
16.Brooklyn Kid
17. Carmalita
18. This Time Around
19. Time to Move On
20. Boys From Oklahom
21. Late Last Night
22. Hottest Thing in Town
23. LA Woman

Great job on the review!! Hope you don't mind me adding my perspective from the show, too.
First off, I agree - the venue was great - first time for me at the Orange Peel. Cody mentioned on several occasions that he really appreciated the vibe he was getting from the crowd and that last night was one of the best nights he's had playing music. It truly showed as the guys put on a great performance. And I almost didn’t recognize JP with his cowboy hat, beard and weight loss.
I got a sense that last night was a celebration of sorts for the guys. Cody mentioned that it had been a great 2009 so far - they had just played MusicFest, the RRB had played Letterman this week and that a dear friend of the band's (and wife to Cody's guitar tech) was on the plane that went down in the Hudson River and was safe. Cody dedicated the show to Robin and mentioned that his guitar tech (name escapes me) had left to be with her.
As for the setlist - T-totally awesome. The new stuff sounded great - I was thinking that the 2 new songs were called Coming Back to Me and What Tomorrow Brings but this is only a guess. They also played a song earlier in the set that I thought was called Pretty Lady - Cody said that he wrote it in tribute to Bettie Page.
Always great when bands from the Texas/Red Dirt scene head east of the MS river and hopefully we're showing Ragweed and all the other acts that they all have a strong following in this area.
