Well.. apparently I got called out last night. Well.. Pat came out and played a little West Texas Holiday for the first song of the encore and during it he addressed me by saying that because I said he didn't know the words... he was proving me wrong. I don't think anything could be righter in the state of Texas for me right now.

For me, that song is one that I always think of when I think of my early days of Texas Music. I did a lot of hunting back then and the song just kind of struck a chord with me back when the only album out was Dancehall Dreamer. I'm well aware that West Texas Holiday doesn't hold a candle to most of the great music he's put out. I would never say that WTH should have made it to #1 across the county... I'm not that naive. But for me... that song means more to me than any other. It will always a spot in my heart and soul as a starting point not only for Pat.. but also for me. Great music doesn't just make you cry or make you sit and stare into space thinking deeply about your life... it also can make you extremely happy. And that is what this song is about.

That show last night was off the charts. It was Pat Green in his element and I can honestly say that I feel that he still holds the king of texas music spot in my mind. I know he's much larger than Texas these days but last night reminded me why I've always loved him.

So thanks Pat, for the reminder that you are still the guy you've always been. I'll eat that humble pie in front of the sold out crowd any day of the week. I think us Texans take things a little personal sometimes and last night was a great reminder that while the vision is alot larger than Texas, we still get the best shows and a reminder that he still loves us.

If it flies, it dies....

Everyone on this board who was there last night, I can almost guarantee thought about Tank when he started playing WTH. I had the biggest smile on my face just imagning what expression must be on Tank's. I agree with everything he said and know exactly what he means about how different songs strike different people. One person's least favorite, can be another person's best memories. The show was definitely off the charts last night. Perfect setting with the perfect performer, made for a perfect Saturday night.
