God bless the soldiers but I'm tired of John Rich coming out with songs that play on people's hearts just so he can have a hit. From him it just seems to disingenuous. I thought the same thing after I heard "Shuttin Detroit Down"
Maybe if he was doing anything other than capitalizing on bad situations I might feel differently. But I dont think he's donating any proceeds of this song to charity and I dont hear him doing a lot for the soldiers, like at least Toby Keith does.

John Rich is an arrogant man...everything he does appears in vain (my opinion). I support the troops 100% in everything they do but I don't think JR releases any song "from the bottom of his heart".

| Not a fan of John Rich, but it seems like quite a few people out there have songs to support the troops. I've got nothing against them, but sometimes it seems like overkill. Please understand I'm not taking my point out on these songs, because there are times when this happens with songs directed at any moment in someones life and such and radio becomes oversaturated with redundancy. Bleh, that's when I turn on the CD's in the truck. |
I think most people can tell when a song like that is heart-felt... and from John Rich... it just doesn't sound heart-felt, not to mention it's just not a good song. Supporting the troops is more than just writing a song about soldiers. John Rich has never even been on a USO tour. At least people like Darryl Worley and Toby Keith put their money where their mouth is, by doing things like the USO tours. They dont just sit back and collect the royalties from a patriotic song.

Well yeah, to you or I, because nobody wants to see us on a stage in Iraq. LOL but if an artist as big as John Rich (no pun intended) hasn't done a USO tour... then I dont think he has any business coming out with a song about soldiers.

I've never heard the song (or the other one either) as I don't listen to radio stations that play his music

VTS agrees with Cole on the Toby Keith deal. He does visit the troops alot and also does alot of charity work, especially here in Oklahoma with his "Ally's House".
That being said, VTS actually likes John Rich's Detroit song.
